Those pictures are amazing.
I especially like those of Hulme's McLaren being pushed through the puddle. This one is almost shouting to be made as a diorama:

-beautifull car
-driver pushes the car himself
-movement
-a dirty surrounding so far away from todays F1 standards.

I just noticed the writing "Österreichring" on the back of the Marshall in the first puddle-picture. So I think it should be Austria?

Well spotted CaptainX....The photographer has it in his French GP set, but I already had trouble imagining where this could be at Ricard. Hulme had #9 too in Austria so that fits.
I willremove them from the French GP set and make a new post for these Hulme pics under Austria

Well, the Mighty Internet has it often wrong...
"B1" is an Internet invention.

If it is an 'Internet invention' how come it is in some of my books from the 1970s & 1980s?

I think we had this discussion before and could not agree then... Neutral

You use your convention and I will use mine. I am sure everyone else understands both.

To support Rob's case, this contemporary clipping from Motoring News' 1971 Monaco race report makes it pretty clear that the name 312 B1 was in use:

The 1970 car was also referred to as 312B/70 in that year's Autocourse.
