Websites from the past related to F1C added.

You can visit and navigate through a small part of them. You can't download anything, but you can see some tutorials, good practices and driving tips.

I am finishing the career mode emulator for F1 Challenge '99-'02 (it will be an excel file). Alpha version coming soon. You can see the FUN section in the first post of this topic.

I need volunteers to test it. You can use any season from 1983 to 2005 and play Championship mode. One season is enough.

Who offers?

Feel free to ask me any question.

If there is no volunteers, the project will be paused for a time.

Hi guys.

Today I am going to release the F1 Challenge '99-'02 career mode simulator V1.0, which is an excel file whose purpose is self-explained in its file title. After constructing this tool with Markus' GP2 Career excel file as a prominent basis and its corresponding upload in Mega and share in this forum, I can consider this topic finally complete, and it will not receive succesives changes after these events.

The date of this last upload also coincides with one thing: this is the last day that I am going to have a great quantity of free time for F1 Challenge '99-'02.

From 27th September 2017, I am going to start high-techincal degree classes along with practical driving lessons and B2 level English classes in the next days. This means that I am going to have very little free time and I am going to dedicate that to F1 Hero, friends and family. There are F1H cars waiting for sponsors liveries update, as well as annotations I had done before of the influence and role of those sponsors in each car. I also have to optimize my own tracks for make moving ─dynamic─ trees (like in the original F1C circuits).

I don't know what contributions I am going to do from now, but one of them is sure: I will support d4nf1c. The community needs people like him (and those who contributed to 1981 mod), and I want to test my excel tool with his mod. I recommend anyone to do the same. I bet his mod will be something very rewarding. His mod could be as worthy for F1C as the CART 1988 mod for rFactor for other users.

Let me tell you something: while I was rescuing some old F1C websites in September 2017 ─M4Driving, BHMotorsports, Hungarian SimWorld, f1gaming.de─ thanks to Internet Archive, I discovered also that many of these websites were gone in 2010-2012.

Seems that only the die-hard fans and hardcore gamers stayed in F1C since then. Along with the release of new and better products (rFactor2, Assetto Corsa, Project Cars 2, F1 201X) in the market, and how some parts of the F1C community become more disrespectul (by leeching and discrediting content creators) with the work done from scratch of other genuine authors, most of F1C's enthusiasts became quite individualistic. (Me included. Personally I think that I help a lot, and very few people contribute to help others or release new contents, along with Luigi70, Schumacher180, Kaps, DavidMarques and d4nf1c; the rest of the content brought are just F1 2017's, most of them clones or semiclones of F1 2017 SL with shitty gameplay in single player and/or poorly defined physics). With the creation of new softwarte and the relative fall of F1 Challenge '99-'02 into obscurity (specially for european, north american and japanese players) being abandonware since 2005, leeching stuff has been never easier.

I think the worst enemy of F1C are the lack of learning how to modding and the lack of interest to share improvements, as well as the absence of respect to other authors. Most of those who release stuff for F1C are just leechers.

Watch the difference just by taking a look at Sim Racing Mirror Zone GPL sections and subsections or GrandPrix2.de.
http://srmz.net/index.php?showforum=84
http://grandprix2.de/

Indeed, 2012 was perhaps the most terrible year for F1 Challenge '99-'02's community. And the survival of F1C depends in the integrity of their users with what they do when comes to modding or ripping contents. I think that is one of the secrets of how Grand Prix Legends survived as a videogame, even when it has almost 20 years.

Despite all I have written before, I'm still quite happy to be part of the F1C community since April 2007, even what it turned out to be overall. After all, the communites of the old days (RaceSimCentral F1C, but especially Racesimulations F1C) were a flash of light in the labyrinth of darkness (constant bullying since 2002, learned helplessness, depression, failed suicidal attempts...) that my life was. The F1 Hero dream lives to these days thanks to most of you.

With that said, enjoy F1C as much as you can.

Regards to everyone,
Cristian

These are only some parts of a great great speech, Cristian, that I think should be read and reread for the sake of joint awareness of how important it is to share, as opposed to being petty. I honestly hope people stop these neverending quarrels over ownership and stuff. The person doesn't want to share his/her work? It's their decision. Respect. The person wants to share? At least, have the decency of asking if it's ok to do something from it.

I would like to thank you so much for all the kindness you express to me in this, but I really have to say one thing: if there is anyone who we can say the 1981 mod wouldn't have existed without, that person is Neiln. If it weren't for him spending hours on end modelling the cars in every change they underwent throughout the year, I wouldn't have what to work with and, to tell you the truth, I wouldn't even know where to start. His is all the work and knowledge and I'm nothing but a student and polisher, trust me. The second person to thank for and who apparently has disappeared from the modding scene is Pedro Ripping Corpse, who made the great models for GP4, some already converted by Neiln with his authorization, and which served Neiln as a base for most of the works that have come out all through this last year. Luigi70 is the next piece in this puzzle, having made the fantastic model for the Ligiers based on the original CREW work and a sort of Easter Egg car, which has not actually run any race but I'm sure is expected with anticipation by many. These three guys are the ones who really made this happen. My part in all this is really minimal, fixes here and there in things already done, pictures for the site and making sure there are no conflicts with other mods. To finish, Wookey also deserves a big thanks for all the support and for putting all these crazy heads together. By the way, in my case specifically, I have to thank you, Cristian, for searching for the solutions to make F1C compatible with modern PCs. If it weren't for you, I would not be able to see the few things I'm able to do with ZModeler on track, since my new machine had problems with Win98 compatibility and sent me back to desktop many times, not to mention the awful stuttering. It is safe to say, then, that lots of people are actually much more responsible for the 1981 mod than me. Still, I can only thank you so much for the kindness and apologize for writing so much. I just felt credit had to be given for those who really deserve it much more than I do.

All the best. I hope you still enjoy 1981 and F1C for a long time.

It seems this is all The Nameless Team was about Smile working together, adding skills, just for the sake of doing things and having them for the F1C community. If other are happy, so good Wink

This link was before a donwload section.

Now seems to be an exposition of all the leech, mod appropiation and outrages caused by the administrator of F1 Challenge 1988-2014 (in Spanish). He has a dispute with Valerio, and he even defamed him on Wikipedia.

That is pretty sad.

I am going to quit the link right now.

Thanks, Vico.

Regards.
Cristian

EDIT: He leeched now part of my work (and by extension, Ical Everon and d4nf1c) with the ultimate solution for make F1C work in Windows 7 and future versions. More of his potential leech acts will be posted here (without further warnings). People like him are who made BigFelix, Schumacher180, BMCM3, Ralph Hummerich (among many others) left the F1C scenario.
